More Water On The Wood

elijah_on_mt_carmel_by_henryz-d4g1kuqIn 1 Kings 18 Elijah has a showdown with the prophets of Baal to see who really is God. Elijah watches the prophets of Baal dance around their altar all day long to no avail. He then instructs them to fill four large pitchers with water and pour it over the wood on his altar. He does this three times. With the wood soaked and the trench filled with water, he calls on the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to rain down fire in the sight of all men that they may know that He is God. Without delay, God sends fire down and it burns up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the soil, and also licks up the water in the trench. The people then fall on their faces and cry out, “The Lord – He is God!”

Yesterday the doctors performed a echocardiogram on Emilie Grace to see if the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is open or closed. While the test was inconclusive, her vital signs are still suggesting that the valve has not yet closed. This is more water on the wood.

Hydrocephalus

Holly and I just received a call from the doctor. She informed us that based on Emilie’s head ultrasound today, it appears she has hydrocephalus. This is a buildup of fluid inside the skull that leads to brain swelling. To address this they will need to place a shunt in her brain to drain this fluid. Even more water on the wood.

This is further complicated because the hospital she currently is receiving care from is not able to perform this procedure. She would need to be transferred to another hospital in Hollywood for the procedure to be done. Because of her fragile state, a transfer at this time could have several negative repercussions. Yet even still more water on the wood.

Despite all of our wood being soaked with water, Holly and I still believe God can set it on fire. Steven Furtick says it best in Sun Stand Still, “God likes to wet the wood before he sets it on fire. That way, everybody knows who made it burn.”

  1. i know the God who sets wet wood ablaze! joining u guys in prayer! as pastor kelly said, God is not able, He’s MORE than able…exceedingly, abundantly, above all we can ask or think, so if we dare to ask for wholeness and healing on a July 30th discharge, what more will our God do?! above that!

  2. Dear Seth and Holly, “The unfailing faithfulness of God—not our capability or performance—is the solid ground of our journey in audacious faith.” He WILL show himself faithful. Trust Him for His outcome.

I continue to lift Emilie Grace, you and all involved in.her care to our God who is more than able. May you find rest and peace in the shelter of His unfailing love.

  3. Having read this blog, especially the quote by Furtick…..All I am saying is this: God is about to do something that only HE does well. What a might God!!!!!!!

  4. It freaked me out when they told me my daughter had to be transfered to another hospital. One she this was her second hospital. I kept praying to God and asking him to heal her so she wouldnt need to be transfered. Guess what he didnt heal her, i had to get over my self and my fears and allow her to be transfered. We end up staying in that hospital 3 months! But it was the best place for her. They had every type of pediatric specialist, i didnt have to leave her at night, they had beds in her room, and showers. They even gave food vocheurs to breastfeeding moms! I know its scarey bc i have been there. Just stand still and watch God come through for ms emilie just like he did for my azriel.

  5. We continue to pray for each one of you. God is working through you guys for many of us, who needs to check our faith. I’m confident that lives are being change. You guys are an example and are amazing. Keep faith alive.

  6. “Trust in God and obedience to his will are as essential to the Christian in the spiritual warfare as to Gideon and Joshua in their battles with the Canaanites. By the repeated manifestations of his power in behalf of Israel, God would lead them to have faith in him-with confidence to seek his help in every emergency. He is just as willing to work with the efforts of his people now and to accomplish great things through weak instrumentalities. All heaven awaits our demand upon its wisdom and strength. God is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20. – {PP 554.1}.”

May this encourage you on your journey of faith.

  7. My faith is increased and I’m encouraged by your blog. I’m accepting God’s SOAK wood for the fire to be greater than any fireworks I’ve ever seen in my life. Stay encouraged. Willie

  8. God continues to perform “miracles” each and everyday. I know you both remember this song by the Clark Sisters.
    I’m Looking for a miracle
    I expect the impossible
    I feel the intangible
    I see the invisible

    The Sky is the limit
    To what I can have

    Just believe and receive it
    God will perform it today

I expect a miracle every day,
God will make a way out of no way

  9. The faith you guys exhibit during these trying times has been a great testimony to me, and I’m sure countless others. It’s so beautiful to see a young couple so rooted and grounded in Christ. Despite these trying times, you guys are truly blessed and favored. I am praying for gorgeous Emilie Grace, all while praying that you and Holly continue to keep the faith, and show the world what it truly means to be a follower of Christ. I’m so excited about Emilie Grace’s future, because she will truly be a walking testimony. All my love to you guys.

  10. Psalms 118:24
God is reaching, teaching the preciousness of life through the face of Emilie Grace; one miracle at a time.

  11. What I do know is that “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted” Job 5:9 NIV. Thank you for reminding us of who God is–God will act “when He seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left” Deuteronoy 32:36. “For He is merciful and gracious, longsuffering, abounding in goodness and truth” (Exodu 34:6). God bless you Emilie Grace, Holy, and Pastor Yelorda.

  12. I am not surprised on how awesome our God is!
Thank you Pastor for opening up to your Church family and being such a strong man of God. Your testimony strengthens me. I love you and will continue to pray for you and your family.

  13. This morning my devotional group is interceding on behalf of others in prayer. We’re learning how to be selfless when facing the one who can grant our every hearts desire.

Your ability to share the account of your child’s recovery is a ministry so strong (and requires a certain amount of faith, perseverance, and trust) God must have entrusted the two of you with this ministry. You’re doing much more than what you’re asking for in return. Thank you so much for sharing your faith through your posts because you don’t have to.

My prayer is that little Emilie Grace Yelorda is a tiny anointed one. That the journey of her life may have had a rough start, but it’s only strength for what’s to come. I pray that Emilie Grace Yelorda be a vessel and a light so strong, that her parents need this kind of challenge to gain mental fortitude for the impact this child will have in the future. Thank you for their ministry. All these things I ask in Jesus name, Amen.

  14. Jesus HIMSELF prayed “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
My prayer for Emilie is: “My Father, if it is possible, may Emilie feels better, Yet not as I will, but as you will”.
