Let God Be True

…Let God be true and every man a liar! (Romans 3:4)

Emilie’s hydrocephalous has been the direct recipient of my prayer attacks.  And yet it seems the more I pray the worse it gets. The doctors recently told us that the hydrocephalous is increasing. Consequently, they’ve had to increase the frequency of when they drain the fluid off of her brain from every other day to every day. Further, because she’s now 4 pounds she qualifies to receive a shunt. So they’ve begun making arrangements for her transfer back to Kaiser Sunset where this procedure will take place. As you can imagine we are NOT excited about Kaiser Sunset!

For many weeks now I’ve been praying against this shunt. The thought of a cord being placed in my daughter’s head that will run down her neck into her stomach is very unsettling.  And thus I’ve been praying that God would heal her of this infirmity. That overtime the fluid would decrease and the only reason she would need a transfer to Sunset is to remove the reservoir, not install a shunt.  However with the increase of fluid and the transfer arrangements being made a shunt appears nearly inevitable.

Yet the text says, “Let God be true and every man a liar.” How counterintuitive. As her hydrocephalous continues to worsen I’m naturally inclined to believe that God’s promises are a lie and the hydrocephalous is true. However for the Christian the truthfulness of one’s situation is not determined by the facts that appear to be present, but by God’s Word.

If God’s Word declares something to be true, no amount of verifiable evidence, scientific proof, or common sense can make it untrue. So no matter how severe the hydrocephalous may be, if God says she’s healed, she’s healed! So what then do you do with the “reality” of the situation? Great question! You choose to operate based on what God says and not on what you see. And you then trust God with the results.

  1. What a precious little video! Keep trusting God! He holds the whole world in His hands!
    Que Dieu vous blesse!

  2. “We threw in three, What do you see, It’s Four walking in the furnace!” God is there with you!
God’s plan was in action before sweet Emilie arrived. God’s plan for our rescue is made before we even know we are in danger. I pray for God to continue to bless and encourage you and Holly as He continues to heal Emilie Grace.

  3. I’m trying to think of the right words to lend some peace and encouragement. I have been through this entire situation with my daughter. I have relived it each time I read your posts and many times in tears. I truly understand what you are feeling and the anxiety that is felt with the reality vs Gods word am his promises.
I say this to say with encouragement and sincerity that although we pray for complete healing and are placing our trust in Gods plan for our lives and those of our loved ones, sometimes the trust comes from the things that we would least expect to deal with.
I remember the day that I drove away from the neurosurgeon s office in tears as I replayed the conversation of my little girl needing to have a VP shunt placed in her head. The thought is indeed unsettling. And then I heard a soft voice through my tears,” I have been taking care of her and will continue to.”
The road hasn’t always been easy but today because of Gods love and care, she is a strong six year old. Our plan for healing may not be what we expect even though He is able. Continue to trust Him even when you don’t understand. God bless! your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. I will continue to intercede for Emily and stand in agreement with you on the truth of what the WORD declares. Your faith continues to bless me. Thank you for sharing even when it’s difficult. May you and Holly reap 100 fold of the encouragement you give.

  7. Wooow look how far she’s come! It’s so sweet seeing her eyes locked into yours while you sing. She seems to be very attentive. She’s growing up so quickly and beautifully!!! God is not a man that He should lie. We continue to pray for Emilie’s healing and that your faith in God will remain strong.

  8. Good Morning Pastor Seth and Holly,
Jesus loves me (this song summarize the essential truths of the Christian faith); keep the faith!
What a powerful, touching ‘testimony’ via video of parenting your beautiful daughter, Emily Grace. Continue to trust God no matter what. Much love and prayer for your family.

  9. was just pausing to pray for our little emilie grace and realized i hadn’t seen an update in a while. i didn’t get this one or the last one, for some reason, but am glad to hear of her progress. God bless!

  10. Dear Seth and Holly, The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. . .
Concentrate on staying close to Him. Discipline your thoughts to trust Him as He works HIS WAYS in Emilie’s life. Pray about everything, then leave the outcomes to Him. Trust HIS WILL which always accomplishes what is BEST for our lives. You can have ABSOLUTE TRUST IN HIM; UNDERNEATH ARE HIS EVERLASTING ARMS. TRUST HIM AND HIS OUTCOMES. Much love to you.

  11. We love you as our thoughts and prayers are ongoing… We already see God in all of this, and continue to gain faith through you. Thank you. Now, lets continue to concentrate on Him who will work in Emilie.

  12. Pastor Seth and Holly,
me and my family have been talking about you and wondering how little precious Emilie Grace is doing, and low and behold, we see you singing the most comforting song to her- marvelling at how she responds to you! God is so good…I read the updated news about the shunt– Pastor (and Holly) I cannot say that I know what you’re feeling right now…I cannot (loosely) tell you to keep the faith and just trust God…I have never gone through what you are going through. I don’t know what it is like to have a child in such a ‘ify’ state of being…to see my child up one day then declining the next…I can imagine that right about now, you are emotionally and physically tired and your spirit and faith is probably waning…God understands…He knows that you and your wife love him and trust him. He knows that you love Emilie Grace. He knows that you are tired and your faith is shaky and he also knows that you believe in him…He knows that you know in your heart that He is the Founder and Source of ‘complete’ healing…by now, it’s obvious that God has ‘purposed’ for you and Holly and Emilie Grace to go through this ‘process’ for a ‘higher’ purpose…already, you have touched so many peoples lives. Emilie Grace is already a testament to your prayers and faith and she’s already a celebrity in her own rite (smile).
God is so awesome. We cannot put him or keep him in a box. He does things beyond our wildest imaginings…He keeps a smile on our hearts, doesn’t He?
I just want to encourage you and Holly and Emilie Grace to continue to hold on to what you ‘know’ to be true–God is in control and his plan is being fulfilled. It is him that is keeping you and your precious baby close to his bosom; there you, Holly and Emilie Grace can find comfort.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
    Peace.
    Rene’ Michelle Floyd and family

  13. The best is yet to come. Only good is going to come out of it. The Living God, is the Living God. All things are in His hands, and all things are complete according to His Word and His Will. His love for your and your family is being expressed through your journey of faith. The evidence is being revealed daily, as we watch and pray for you and your family. The Living God is Faithful, and His promises are active in our lives.

  14. continuing to pray for our little emilie grace. our God is awesome. still mighty to save. He healed me completely, i know He’ll do the same for His daughter, emilie. this spoke life to me:
“The nature of the enemy’s warfare in your life is to cause you to become discouraged and to cast away your confidence. Not that you would necessarily discard your salvation, but you could give up your hope of God’s deliverance. The enemy wants to numb you into a coping kind of Christianity that has given up hope of seeing God’s resurrection power.”
― Bob Sorge, Glory: When Heaven Invades Earth
never give up; never despair! the enemy’s voice is not stronger than God’s victory!
